How to score a hit

This Sunday just past Shelley and I ventured out to Clapham Junction to find the much fabled Farmer's Markets. We couldn't find them, and so they remain fabled for now. However, I did come close to inadvertently 'scoring a hit', as they say.

While Shelley went into the grocery store to buy me a delicious scroll, I waited outside passing the time, thinking about scrolls. Now admittedly, I was leaning againt the wall, my jaw hanging a bit loose (I had a cold), my expression a little glazed-over (I was thinking about scrolls), and my jumper a little crinkled from sleeping in it the night before. But that's no excuse for what happened next.

All of a sudden this guy walks up and asks me if I'm "cool". I didn't quite know how to answer the question straight off the bat, so I said, yes, I was cool thank you very much. Wrong answer.

What ensued was a very awkward, wink-wink, nudge-nudge kind of conversation, that left my dealer friend feeling very exasperated, and me feeling very uncool indeed.

I had to walk past him outside the station too, eating my cinnamon scroll.
