Having once been skipper of her school sailing team, Shelley assumed the right to commandeer it. Haunted by memories of mast and mainsail, her eyes consumed with visions of the sea, none could pry her tiny fingers from the wheel. I only succeeded in the end by claiming to have seen a more illustrious vessel farther on.
