ANZAC Day, Hyde Park

We did something pretty stupid on ANZAC Day.

It was 4.00 a.m. when Shelley, Bryce and I set off on the bus to Hyde Park for the dawn service. A huge crowd had gathered at Hyde Park Corner for what turned out to be a great service. (The organisers even invited some New Zealanders to attend, which I thought was a nice touch.)

When it was over, Bryce suggested we sign the guest book, which the announcer had said was in the bottom corner of the park. We soon found some people signing, so we took our place behind them, chatting while we waited. Pretty soon there were five or six people queuing behind us, and still no progress from the people in front. After a few more minutes we were getting a little impatient, so Bryce peered over the writer's shoulder to see what was going on; he returned with some troubling news:

"I think they're filling out a passport application."

I'm not sure if we told the people waiting behind us, but we got out of there pretty quick.
