Screwloose

A little while ago now, sister Kath challenged all of the Lewis clan to an essay writing competition. The topic to be discussed: 80s dance movies; where did they come from, where did they go? First prize: an 80s dance movie DVD of your choice. It was hard to resist.

Five essayists threw their hats into the ring, but only one was blessed with an excess of spare time - me! I won! In your face Mrs Drysdale from grade three! That's for giving me such a low mark for my assignment on the life of bees. I was secretly hoping for a B.

So anyway, after my impressive victory, I had to decide which 80s jaunt I wanted to savour. There were really only two on my mind: Footloose, and Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, but in the end I decided to go with the Kevin Bacon classic. (Oooh, I just had a brainwave - Kevin Bacon Classic is a great name for a burger! Hands off, I'm going to get onto that.)

Footloose is a must see, if only for the scene where Kevin Bacon delivers a flying karate kick to the bad guy's head after taking a running jump from the top of the stairs - all in one fluid motion, and all in a tuxedo. I aspire to do this at some point in my life.

Thanks for the DVD Kath. As you can see, it has made quite an impact on my life.

Don't feel bad; Mrs Drysdale was getting revenge for you calling her Mrs Washersdale.

I think I'll whip up some Kevin Bacon Classics tonight. Mwahahahahahaaaaaa!

And now, I definitely have to get Footloose. (Watch it, not be it.)

Glad you liked it, Juz. Next I want a shot of Shelley doing crazy running on the spot, or chair silhouette, a la her Flashdance treat. Have you watched it yet? It will change your life.
